SAMMENLUOLA

  Varautuminen eli prepperöinti on ollut osa elämääni noin 15 vuoden ajan. Tuona aikana olen pyrkinyt selvittelemään esihistoriallisten ja historiallisten yhteisöjen sekä sivilisaatioiden romahdukseen johtaneita syitä ja kehitysketjuja. Tähän liittyen olen tutustunut yhteiskuntien romahdusta koskevan tutkimuksen varsin rikkaaseen teoriakenttään lukemalla alan kirjallisuutta ja tutkimuksia, sekä seuraamalla ajankohtaisia tapahtumia eri puolilla maailmaa. (Lähdeaineistoon liitttyen, tämän sivun alalaidassa on myös lista aihetta käsittelevistä dokumenttielokuvista. Olen loppuun listannnut myös vuoden 2000 jälkeen valmistuneita romahdusaiheisia viihde-elokuvia.)

  Olen kykyjeni mukaan paneutunut myös yllättävien kriisien ja haastavien poikkeusolojen psykologisiin vaikutuksiin yksilön ja yhteisön näkökulmasta, sekä siihen mitä yhteisiä piirteitä selviytyjillä vaikuttaisi olevan. Olen tutkinut poikkeusolojen asettaman selviytymispakon luomia haasteita eri persoonallisuustyyppien kannalta, sekä sitä miten ennakkokäsitykset, asenteet, normit, ideologiat ja jopa neurologiamme voivat määrittellä ihmisen toimia ja ajattelua kriisitilanteissa.

  Teoreettisen ja puhtaasti tiedollisen perustan lisäksi olen harjoitellut varautumisen(kin) kannalta tärkeitä käytännön taitoja. Osa näistä toimista on liittynyt (ja liittyy edelleen) reservin sotilastoimintaan, lähinnä toiminnalliseen ammuntaan (SRA) ja Maanpuolustuskoulutusyhdistyksen (MPK) kursseihin.

  Muita toimiani ovat olleet mm.

• EA2 (opinnoista noin puolet suoritettu, valmistuminen elokuussa 2024)
• radioamatööritoiminta (HAREC)
• primitiivitekniikka- ja eräosaamisen ylläpito
• luonnonvaraisten hyötykasvien käytön opiskelu
• kotivaran kehittäminen (vesi, ravinto, energia, EA, infektioiden hoito)
• omavaraisuuden¹ kehittäminen (mm. hyötypuutarha, pyynti ja keräily, elintarvikkeiden varastointi, turvallisuus, viihtyminen)

  Varautumisajatteluni painopistealueita teorian ja käytännön välimaastossa ovat olleet henkinen omavaraisuus sekä sosiaalinen pääoma. Ensin mainittuun voi liittyä esimerkiksi mielenrauhaa edistävien keinojen sekä riitojen ratkaisuun tähtäävien taitojen opiskelu, turvallisuusomavaraisuuden kehittäminen, selviytymisen kannalta viisaiden käytösnormien sekä arvojen omaksuminen, ja jopa varautumisen ja kestävyyden kannalta myönteisen uskomusaineiston tarjoamien mahdollisuuksien oivaltaminen. Jälkimmäisen aihepiirin, sosiaalisen pääoman, liitän yksilöiden merkitykseen yhteisössään, eli siihen miten ihminen mielletään (tai miten häntä ei mielletä) tarpeelliseksi osaksi jotain ryhmää tai projektia. Voi tuntua hieman erikoiselta miettiä turvallisen nykyarjen katveessa sitä miten oma yhteisöllinen asema saattaisi määritellä omia selviytymisen mahdollisuuksia vakavan kriisin iskiessä. Aiheeseen liittyvät kysymykset ovat kuitenkin yksinkertaisia:

”Saanko naapureiltani tarvittaessa apua?”
”Olenko itse ollut avulias naapuri?”
”Mikä on sosiaalinen asemani kotikylässäni, talonyhtiössä tai naapurustossa?”
”Luottavatko muut osaamiseeni?”
”Olenko muiden mielestä ´hyvisten´ puolella?” …ja jos olen,
”…tietäväthän he sen varmasti?”

  Mielestäni kokonaisvaltaisesti varautuvan ihmisen tavoite sosiaalisen pääoman osalta on olla yhteisönsä kiistaton jäsen, sekä jonkin hyödylliseksi koetun taidon tai tiedon haltija. Hän on ihminen, joka auttaa muita, ja siten saa itsekin apua jos maailma muuttuu huonommaksi.

  Ajan myötä kertyneen varautumisosaamiseni ja aiheeseen liittyvän tietopohjani myötä olen suunnitellut ja toteuttanut vuosien varrella useita luentoja ja käytännön varautujataitoihin liittyviä työpajoja, sekä kirjoittanut aiheesta joihinkin julkaisuihin. Minua on myös haastateltu aiheesta muutaman kerran, mihin liittyen voit tutustua taustoihini Media -sivulla.

1. Omavaraisuuden osalta suosittelen tutustumaan myös Omavaraopiston tarjontaan. Omien lyhytkurssieni ja työpajojeni sijaan opiskelu Lasse Nordlundin ja Maria Dorffin johtamassa Omavaraopistossa on hyvin pitkäjänteistä ja kokonaisvaltaista. Omavaraopiston opiskelijat sitoutuvat vuoden mittaiseen ohjelmaan, jossa painopiste on puutarhaviljelyssä, kasvimaan pidossa, sekä perinnerakentamisessa. Opistossa tutustutaan myös kalastuksen perusteisiin, mutta metsästystä siellä ei opeteta, sillä sen katsotaan olevan korkeintaan (puutarhaviljelyä) täydentävä ravinnonhankintakeino.
